Year 9 Robotics focuses on developing an understanding of fundamental robot design and development while applying analytical, critical and creative skills to solve strategic real-world project-based problems.
Using programming principles, students will learn to code by considering the human interaction with robotic systems. Robotics education is about team work where students will work in groups to develop a range of robots. These interactions will improve their communication and social skills.
This course will also introduce students to RPAs (Remotely Piloted Aircrafts) – also commonly known as drones. Students will learn to code drones. The study of drones will increase student engagement and learning capacity surrounding spatial technologies, drone construction and design. Students will consider the privacy and security implications of drone technology.
This course will challenge students to push their technical, analytical and creative abilities to solving problems, and to become better thinkers.
By successfully completing this course, students will have a stronger understanding of digital technologies at both a practical and ethical level.
This is a new course offering.
